Is it normal to scar? Insurance companies and Laser manufacturers say there is less than a 5% or 3% risk of scarring. Factors involved are laser wavelengths used, power settings, beam output, factory or no factory authorized maintenance, how much time is waited between treatments (more time equals less risk) post treatment care, immune system function, your history of keloids or prior scarring, micronutrient levels and lifestyle.
For most people inks and tattoos, more time between treatments has less risk than waiting less time. Unfortunately, we see many people after they begin treatments elsewhere with less than ideal results. Some have scarring visible after 1 2 or only 3 laser treatments. Many of these people were treated with lasers every 2 weeks, 4 weeks or 6 weeks and (or) by the most popular lasers that companies advertises the most and best fastest results.
Now when people are treated every 5 or 6 weeks, somewhere else, we tend to see less scarring than when treated every 2 weeks. WE SAW SKIN CHANGES ON A PERSON TREATED IN NYC EVERY 5 OR 6 WEEKS AFTER 9 TREATMENTS. We had a similar patient treated at 8 or more weeks whoe had no skin changes and the same or lighter ink remaining.
We have seen scarring done elswhere, where the person said it was after one treatment by a laser advertised as 100x faster. Maybe it scars 100 times faster. White scar tissue over the tattoo ink is not the normal outcome. We often see people walking in like this. Best to be treated somewhere where the same person will treat you each time. Don’t go from place to place. There are benefits to being treated where the laser operator changes the settings based on your response to the last treatment ans has the specific notes in your chart. We ask, because we care.
Sometimes, for whatever reason, or no known reason the reaction is different. We always try to check on each patient the next day after treatment or day after that.
We just diagnosed a patients nutritional intake after 4 treatments. He exercises sleeps eats very healthy and is young. In excellent health. Turns out certain foods are not good for his medical condition. 20% of America is said to be affected. Only when we spent 3 hours on his details did his issue come to the surface. Most doctors are not trained in nutritional factors of optimum health and disease. Most dont know about this particular problem or how very “healthy foods” can make the problem worse. We offer nutritional support for tattoo removal (and other things too).
Your tattoos are not separate from your body. As one patient only wanted the ink out and not to improve any other body functioning.
Pain, healing, energy levels, absence of being sick, etc can all be improved with better nutrient density and optimized supplements after addressing your specific needs with an optimized nutrient plan/diet.
We have also helped scars to look better. One person’s scar tissue was 50% improved 4 months after just one treatment. His ink faded a lot too. How did he get scarring? He said 2 bottles of acid cost only $40, its cheap. He said he must have done it 30 times over the past 6 (yes six) years. So much scarring, and just a little bit of ink lightening. After our one special laser treatment his ink was 3 or 4 times lighter than what he did in 6 years.
Another person was treated at a plastic surgeon 4 years before and had dozens of hypopigmented circles and keloided/ hypertrophic scars. She was injected with numbing by needles before. We treated her in a different area without numbing and she left with a smile on her face. Thats what we like do do, help people. We care about your skin.
We don’t like treating previously scarred skin. People often think that the white over the tattoo means its going away and normal. They have unrealistic expectations. Not the immediate white frosting of a treatment, but white skin weeks and months later. It must be treated with less laser power not extra strong power. Care not blasting the h— out of it. Lasers are serious. Ours are more powerful than most others, yet so gentle we can touch your skin afterwards without pain, in most cases.
We welcome you for a consult if you have scarring, but its different process than removing tattoos from normal skin.
Most of the removal takes place in the body after the lasers break some ink into tiny pieces. We have other machines for therapies and techniques to help the removal. We added non laser tattoo removal in selected cases after learning from Dr Friedman. Not all ink reacts to each wavelength. Not all wavelengths are appropriate for all colors of skin.
Diabetics have special tattoo removal requirements, but can be treated carefully. We have a different nutritional protocol. Diabetics heal slowly and smokers also heal slower. Doctors now advise smokers to stop 2 or 3 weeks before surgery. It affects healing.
Please think long and hard if thinking about acids, creams, dry needles, special magical solutions and plasma to burn the skin have ruined many peoples skin.
If you are in a hurry we can do an intensive program for you. individualized based on many factors. Time is your friend. Its a process. Like after a serious accident, there are levels of healing. Its a process. The goal is beautiful skin.
We offer different treatments for coverup tattoos. Lightening dark colors allows a better finished work of art. A tattoo artist who refers people somewhere else said – after laser- the ink goes in differently, like it doesn’t take. like scar tissue. One tattoo artist that we work with said when doing a coverup – the ink went in like normal. No scar tissue at all.
Treating the above patients scarred tattoo is not what you think. We used less power after consultation with Dr. Turovsky. It pays to have a Dr in house who has been doing laser treatments and cosmetic improvements over 15 years. We have 2 doctors.
Nutritional support for Tattoo Removal, it works.
The last leading book on the subject is over 800 pages (80 chapters) on Clinical Ecology. So when you come to Brooklyn Laser Tattoo Removal inc, ask for Mike, as there is more to tattoo removal than point and shoot.
Scars are best evaluated in person. Our M.D. Is at our location, not just a name on a website.
Q. Is it true laser operators don’t use the highest laser power settings because they want to stretch out the treatments to get more money from us patients? I have heard that said before. The highest laser power will cause permanent damage that will never go away if used on a first treatment. On the other hand- A patient and his wife begin treatment with us after 1 or 2 treatments at a place that had dozens of glowing 5 star reviews in google and yelp after a short time in the tattoo removal business. In real life, dozens or five star reviews dont happen naturally. The patient and her husband said they were in and out in 5 or 10 minutes and the tattoo did not change. It did not even frost (turn white for a few minutes) during the first treatment. Thats and example of getting what you pay for. They claimed it did not hurt much. On the other side, a patient said they were not able to see the tattoo because it was immediately covered with a bandage and told to leave it for 2 or 3 days. We think you should always see the skin, so you can monitor it.
How much laser power and how to treat is a science and an art. We trained in many states and and continually refine treatment protocols. Each person is an individual ans different things work better for some people.
We include treatment after the lasers to help increase macrophage activity, speed healing, reduce inflammation and eliminate or reduce pain. We offer another free treatments the next day afterwards too. Macrophages are (like big eaters) specialized white blood cells that engulf damaged cells and ink.
We see people by appointment 7 days a week. Sometimes same day is available. 1 Block from subways. 6465726392
